Our pothole repair process

• Saw-cut or mill a clean, square edge around the damaged area.
• Remove loose asphalt and failed base material.
• Restore and compact the base where it has softened.
• Tack the edges, place hot mix asphalt and compact it in lifts.
• Seal the joint so water cannot get back in.

Temporary vs. permanent repairs

During wet weather we can place temporary cold patch to remove a hazard quickly. Permanent hot mix repairs are done once the area is dry, so the patch bonds and lasts.

Preventing the next pothole

• Seal cracks early.
• Keep drains and gutters clear.
• Seal coat aged pavement.
• Rinse salt residue and sand off the surface and out of drains, reseal oxidized areas, and check low corners where a high water table keeps the base damp.
